Meituan responds to withdrawal from vape business
On October 11, Beijing Sankuai Technology Co., Ltd., the main company of Meituan Group, changed its business scope and no longer includes retail tobacco (including vape and e-liquid).
In response to this, the Meituan responded to the Beijing News reporter that "proactively updating the business scope of the business license in a timely manner is a routine practice in daily company operations. The business scope and plans have not changed."
At the end of July, the company's business information showed that the business scope of Meituan's operating entity, Beijing Sankuai Technology Co., Ltd., has changed, adding retail tobacco (including vape, e-liquid) and other businesses. At that time, Meituan responded, "We will update the business scope statement of the enterprise in a timely manner in accordance with the update of national laws and regulations and newly issued policies and regulations, which is normal business registration."
On August 29, the "Vape Industry Supervision Status Report (2019)" published by Tsinghua University shows that China is the world's largest producer and exporter of vape and e-liquid. The chase has accelerated the formation of the vape vent. At present, there are thousands of vape companies in China, and new brands are born almost every day. It is worth noting that recently, the Washington Post reported that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found at least 193 cases of severe lung disease that may be related to THC e-liquid in 22 states in the United States, and one of them died.
After the White House announced on September 11 that it would issue a sales ban on flavored vapes. On October 9, two major e-commerce platforms, Ali and JD.com, announced the suspension of vape sales to U.S. buyers in line with the United States ’strict local vape policy.
