Steam duty vapes stopped at duty-free shops in South Korea
Recently, the Korea Food and Drug Safety Agency tested 153 types of steam electronic cigarettes sold in Korea. The results showed that some products were detected as harmful substances suspected of causing lung disease. Currently, Lotte Duty Free has suspended sales of e-liquid flavored electronic cigarettes in Korea and overseas since October 28.
A Rakuten spokesperson said that until August 2019, sales of e-liquid flavored vapes have been satisfactory, but with the emergence of multiple reports of vape deaths in the United States, sales of e-liquid flavored vapes have continued to decline. The Shilla Duty Free and Shinsegae Duty Free also stopped selling five vape products.
In November of this year, the New York City Council passed a resolution banning scented electronic cigarettes by 42 votes to 2. Under the new law, shop owners could face fines of at least $ 1,000 for selling flavored vapes. However, some citizens worry that when scented electronic cigarettes are banned, many people will return to traditional cigarettes.
US President Trump has also stated his position, calling for a ban on all non-traditional tobacco flavor vapes sold in the US market, saying that vapes pose a health threat to young people.
