Test the e-liquid step
There are hundreds of e-liquid testers on domestic video websites and forums, but there is no article telling everyone how to do the e-liquid test. Testing for e-liquids can be complicated, unlike vape devices. Many testers feel that e-liquid is too subjective to do this kind of testing. The author fully agrees with this. But the quality of an e-liquid still has some objective rules to follow. The author has sent e-liquids of many imported brands to various players, plus some daily exchanges between the author and domestic and foreign testers and perfumers, after comprehensive opinions, I have compiled the following tips for domestic testers.
1. Clean the mouth and let the taste buds reach the most sensitive state
When the tester tests multiple e-liquids for a long time, the taste buds may become tired or confused. At this time, it is necessary to master some methods of homing the taste buds. The author has sorted out some methods commonly used by foreign gods, and I have tried them myself, and the effect is not bad. You can learn from them.
1. Make sure you don't eat foods that might affect your taste buds' judgment before taking the test. Some irritating foods such as peppers.
2. If you feel your taste buds are tired and confused, you can rinse your mouth with fresh water or brush your teeth. Some gods think that it is better to replace fresh water with milk.
3. Before each test, you can try to rinse your mouth with fresh water, repeat the test, and record your own feelings. This method may be more helpful to discover the essence of a certain e-liquid.
4. Inhale the coffee grounds deeply with your nose. If you have a box of ground coffee, you can sniff for a long time until you can't detect the smell of the coffee, which can set your taste buds in place. When you test the e-liquid flavors later, you will find that your sense of smell and taste are greatly enhanced.
2. Choose a suitable atomizer
Players who have tested it know that it is necessary to use an RDA atomizer. This means that you have to learn to make silk and core yourself. It's a bit of a hassle, but take into account that the silk you make lasts longer and it's easier to replace the cotton, because then you'll need to change the e-liquid frequently for comparison. After a taste test, all you have to do is to quickly remove the cotton, turn on the heating wire to atomize the residue of an e-liquid, and then install a new cotton to start the next e-liquid test.
Many players are confused whether to use single or double when using RDA? The authors believe that for testing e-liquid flavors alone, it is best to use a single shot. First, this is a huge time saver when you need to test a lot of e-liquids, and second, a single shot tends to nebulize a purer, more accurate flavor. If you use double hair, if there is a difference in the uniformity or resistance of the silk you make, it may cause excessive heat while heat conduction is too slow, which will greatly affect the effect and taste of e-liquid atomization.
3. Blind testing is the guarantee of objectivity
The author's first suggestion is blind testing, which may not be easy for many testers, but blind testing experience is extremely important for obtaining real data. Blind test means that the tester records his true feelings and thoughts about the tested e-liquid without knowing the taste of e-liquid, nicotine content, PG/VG ratio, and not being affected by the test of others.
The author once gave a player a bottle of imported e-liquid with the label off and told him we thought it was a great e-liquid. On our e-liquid rating scale, he gives a good score on every item. Then we gave him another bottle of e-liquid and told him that our tester thought it was average, and his rating dropped a lot, and he didn't know that the two e-liquids were actually the same. This shows the importance of blind testing to real data acquisition.
In a way, that's a good thing when you're about to test an e-liquid and just forget or don't know what flavor the e-liquid is supposed to have. Try a blind test and note down all the flavors you can identify, and then make notes against the flavors. This will not only help you distinguish general e-liquids and enhance your palate, but also improve your e-liquid tasting ability. Your own blind test data will protect you from some other tester's rhetoric or vicious slander about a certain e-liquid. Remember: believe in yourself.
4. Record various performance scores of e-liquid
Each e-liquid has the characteristics of fluidity, which means that the flavors will be different in different time periods after leaving the factory, even during the day, with different devices, different atomizer resistance values, different power settings, etc. In order to obtain relatively objective data, not only the tester's persistence for several days is required, but also the tester needs to use at least three different types of atomizers to collect data at different time periods of the day.
It takes a lot of work to get an objective set of data, and just because a tester liked or disliked a certain e-liquid flavor "over a certain period of time" was not enough to rate an e-liquid qualitatively as a whole. If an e-liquid gives an extremely good taste release in the afternoon and a poor taste when ingested in the morning, it is worthwhile for the end consumer to know this information. It is recommended that testers prepare some clean dripping atomizers, use new heating wires and cotton, and use different equipment to collect as much taste data as possible in different time periods to verify whether the aroma is restored and whether it is suitable for different The atomizing core, whether the PG/VG ratio is correct, etc.
Taking Crazy Mike in the United States as an example, this e-liquid maximizes the proportion of VG in the base liquid on the basis that atomization can restore the flavor and taste, so as to achieve the effect of both taste and smoke volume. Therefore, the base liquid ratio for a certain e-liquid is also very important. In addition, if the tester's conditions do not allow, and different e-liquids need to be used in the same atomizer, remember to clean them thoroughly. Fragmentation is an important reason why many e-liquid flavors cannot be restored.
