U.S. report on electronic nebulized lung disease makes British question the harm of vape
According to the New York Times, public health experts in London say that more than half of British smokers now mistakenly believe that nicotine-containing vapes are as dangerous as tobacco cigarettes. These false fears are preventing smokers from turning to vapes.
In a report commissioned by the British Public Health Agency (PHE), a British health agency, scientists at King ’s College London said that after thousands of lung injury cases were reported in the United States at the end of 2019, people mistakenly believed that the vape ratio Smoking is more harmful.
They said that this idea is completely inconsistent with the expert comments of the United Kingdom and the United States, and the conclusion is that the use of regulated nicotine electronic atomization products is far less harmful than smoking. This report is PHE's sixth report on vape issues and may deepen differences on potential product risks. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said last month that it has recorded more than 2,800 cases of lung injury related to electronic atomization.
Phe Health Improvement Director John Newton said it is worrying to what extent the outbreak of lung disease in the United States has affected smokers' perceptions of vape in the UK.
He said that concerns about safety are likely to prevent many smokers from switching to vape, putting them on a path of poor health for many years and dying prematurely from smoking. The U.S. Department of Health says that vitamin E acetate, a thickener added to cannabis electronics, may be the main cause of flu in the United States.
The nicotine vape controlled by the United Kingdom prohibits the use of this substance. The PHE report reiterated the agency ’s view that vape is far less harmful than tobacco, but not completely safe. PHE said in the report summary that the harmful chemicals they contain will greatly reduce smoking-related diseases, but the long-term effects of using vape remain unknown for some time.
It added that, as the United States and other countries have done, any move by the United Kingdom to ban the use of fragrances in regulated vape products will prevent smokers from turning to vapes and eventually die. The US government has proposed a total ban on all vape flavors. These products are considered to attract young users to use the product.
