Using metal detection equipment to prevent students from smoking electronic cigarettes
In order to prevent students from smoking vapes, schools in the United States are launching a new, more rigorous program to prevent students from smoking vapes in and around the middle and high school buildings.
Last year, the FDA launched various actions to severely restrict companies from selling vapes to minors. In September 2018, they also asked five manufacturers - JUUL, British American Tobacco's Vuse, Altria's MarkTen, and the Empire brand. Blu Vape and Japan Tobacco's Logic - submitted plans to reduce youth use of their products within 60 days. Now the school is also taking action to prevent students from smoking electronic cigarettes.
The school’s leaders said they would use hand-held metal detectors to randomly search students, including student lockers and any vehicles parked on campus. Once the student is checked out using the vape device, he will also receive a urine analysis test within 48 hours.
In a letter to parents in grades 7-12, Hamilton School Director Mike Holbrooke said, "This search will be back to school on April 8th, after the one-week spring break. The day begins."
“Specially trained school workers will conduct random inspections of students and will continue to do so for some time to come.” Holbrooke added, "Some students who are suspicious of school staff will be the key search targets."
“Use a metal detector to randomly search any student who is likely to do so at any point during the school year. The search covers the student’s belongings, lockers, vehicles and other necessary items.”
“In fact, the examination of students is not arbitrary, but a result of reasonable guesses about violations of student code of conduct or regulations,” Holbrooke explained.
Hamilton and other schools have launched a campaign to prevent underage smoking in the country and even across the United States!
In response to the illegal behavior of some domestic traders selling electronic cigarettes to students, it is once again called for the establishment of a good image of the electronic cigarette industry and the improvement of social credibility. It is the duty and obligation of vapes to resolutely oppose the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors!
