Vape will be banned in the smoke-free zone of Melbourne's CBD
According to Western Australia Today News, the Melbourne City Council has considered vapes already banned in the existing smoke-free zone, and some areas of the CBD will soon be banned from using vapes.
If the city council passes an amendment next Tuesday night, then the use of vape products will be banned in 11 non-smoking areas in the city.
Mayor Sally Capp said the move would bring the city into line with the rest of the state, and elsewhere in the state, vape was included in smoking restrictions.
She said: "vape is still a very new product compared to tobacco, but we know that it may be related to serious lung diseases, and there is increasing evidence that vape will cause young people to start smoking."
